60 reviews for Wine Preserver with Vacu Vin Wine Stoppers Vacuum Sealers and Wine Pourers.

  1. Chris Boylan

Does the trick, but where to put it?

This little wine vacuum pump serves its intended purpose wonderfully, removing most of the air from a bottle of wine easily and effectively and delaying the infiltration of flavor-killing aerobic bacteria. In these hot summer months, it easily prolongs the usable life of a bottle of Cabernet stored at room temperature to a week or more after opening, instead of the 3-5 days that you’ll get without using a pump between uses. Note, you can get even longer life out of the wine by storing it in a cooler environment after pumping. The box even has the word “Click” written on it in large letters so you know that when the pump makes a clicking sound, you’re done.My only hesitation in recommending this kit is that it does not come with any means of storage of the five items in the set. The wonderful

    Vinturi Essential Wine Aerator

is equally useful, but it comes with both a stand to rest the aerator on between pours as well as a cloth sack to store it in when not used for extended periods. This stainless steel wine saver “gift set” would benefit greatly from a small case or display stand on which the unit itself, the two pourers and the two stoppers could be stored when not in use.Overall, an excellent product but one that could contribute toward the dreaded KCS (kitchen clutter syndrome).

best wine saver I’ve used so far – 4.5 stars

I’m in agreement with the overwhelming positive Amazon customer reviews of the Vacu Vin, which I’ll add to by saying that of the four wine savers I’ve tried thus far, the stainless steel Vacu Vin has worked the best for me. I’ve only tried one electric wine saver (Brookstone’s Automatic Wine Preserver), which broke within a few uses and never worked right in that short period of time anyway. Like the other two manual wine preservers I’ve used, the Vacu Vin is essentially an air suction pump, which when you place on the top of the bottle and pull up on the handle, removes the air from the inside of the bottle, thus extending the drinking life of the wine inside. Compared with the other two I’ve used, the Vacu Vin requires much less effort to pump the air out, and has a much better connection between the pump and rubber stopper. Also, a clicking sound tells you when the optimum vacuum level is reached and exactly when to stop pumping the air out. The Vacu Vin also comes with two plastic pouring spouts, which allow you to pour without spilling a drop, but I don’t use them because they seem so sharp that you risk cutting yourself trying to insert them in the bottle. They also don’t seem very easy to insert, which is what makes it more dangerous. So, maybe subtract half a star for that.

An improvement on an already excellent product

“Freshness” is irrelevant for a mechanical device.I’ve had an ‘old’ white plastic Vac-U-Vin for many years, and used it probably thousands of times without any problems. Recently the vacuum seal began to degrade, so I looked for a replacement. The new model surpasses the old one in every way. It looks great, achieves a better vacuum with less effort, and seems to employ a different technology that puts less stress on the mechanism. That, plus the use of metal rather than plastic for the main structure, suggests that it may be even more years, and a great many cases of wine, before I need another one!

    THE best wine saver

This is the original, completely perfect wine saver. Look no further. I have tried others and nothing works as well as this one, even at twice the price. Simple and effective. Bottles of wine are good 3 days after opening.

    Great product!

After reading all the wonderful reviews on this product, unforutnatley I wasn’t able to find the information that I was looking for so hopefully this review will help others out there with a similar problem. I recently bought a wine refrigerator or cooler. After opening a bottle and pouring a glass of wine, I will recap the bottle and lay in back in the refrigerator horizontally until the next night or so when I would pour another glass. The problem is that not all bottle necks are the same diameter, so occasionally the wine would leak from the cap. The last time red wine leaked all over the cooler and on the floor, so it prompted me to look for something else for recapping. I decided to take a try at the VacuVin. Although, I have only tried it on two bottles (with the largest necks I could find) and I’m happy to say I have had NO leaking and my wine tastes so much better the 2nd and 3rd time, just like the first glass. I would highly recommend this product especially if you store your wine in a cooler!

Wine saver – Works for Me

The way this thing work is to pump out the air in the open bottle and minimize the wine oxydation process – there by preserving the freshness of the wine.It works as design, whether there is scientific evidence or not, I don’t know.I have used this on about 4 bottles of wine now, it seems support what the advertisement says. After about 5 days, the wine (both red and white) still drinkable. Before I started to use this, after 3 days, my wine would became my cooking wines.I usually finish a bottle within 5-6 days, I would definitely use it because it seems work for me. I did not give a 5 star rating because the pump only go to a certain point and started to not pumping out any air (you can hear the cliking sound when you pump). I think it would work better if more air can be pump out.

    Like any wine drinker knows

Like any wine drinker knows, the worst thing about opening wine is letting it go bad. You almost HAVE to drink it right away and dedicate yourself to that bottle after you open it. This is exactly what I needed.I got this as a gift for my girlfriend and she loved it. It works amazing! Just as intended. For the low price it is EXACTLY what I needed. Before we went on vacation we saw two bottles sitting aside and decided to put it to the test, two weeks later, the wine is exactly as it was when we opened it!This item is, as it says, and works the exact way it should. Extremely happy with this product and would recommend.

Nice gift for the wine lover in your life

I bought this as a gift for my wife along with an extra set of the rubber stoppers/corks and a Venturi wine aerator system. First thing to note is that the rubber stoppers do seal the bottles very well. If you live alone or are the only person in the house who drinks wine and you only want one glass, the Vacu Vin wine saver will allow you store your bottle until you want another glass. You can even lay your bottle on its side in the fridge and it doesn’t leak. I am not sure how long you can keep wine like this but we have used the wine saver for 5 days before finishing a bottle with no issues.I would purchase this product again and recommend it to anyone who enjoys wine and wine-based products. It makes a great gift, too.Enjoy you vino!Mike

Perfect way to store leftover wine

I’ve been using this item for a couple months and like to drink a glass of wine a few times a week. I typically go through one bottle per week by myself and found that this is a great way to store leftover wine. It kept the freshness of the wine for 4-5 days for my pinot noir and cabernets. However, I think it depends on the type of wine because my Malbec turned a little vinegary after the same amount of days. Would highly recommend and it’s super easy to use.

    Seems to work

I have only had it for 5 days, so I wouldn’t be able to judge much about it. It was easy to use the one time I have used it and it comes in a nice, sturdy box, so I think it would be a good gift. Have not really tested the wine I used it on, so I don’t know about freshness.

    Excelent gift

I bought two one for my mom and other for my wife, they really like them excellent gift

  12. JMN

    The Best!!!

I’m kind of tired of the jokes like “Gee, I never have any wine left after I open a bottle.” Well, I don’t want a whole bottle each time I open one, and I don’t want it stale the next time I go to it. This is the 3rd type of Wine saver I have owned and will never buy another brand. It is nearly effortless compared to the others that I had to pump and pump forever to vacuum the air out of the bottle. I will never buy a different one after this one. The price is worth it in the long run since the others break fairly easily (one after using it on only two bottles). I’ve never used the spouts that came with it. It would have been much better if they packaged two more stoppers instead of the spouts. However, it’s a great product.

    Best wine saver…

We have owned several wine saver type devices, and this one is by far the best and easiest to use. For anyone having problems with using it, there is a YouTube video that tells you how with the key step being to wet the stopper before inserting it in the wine bottle. Then you need to make sure you have a good seal between the stopper and the pumping device. Keep pumping until you hear the “snick” sound.I don’t tend to have issues using devices like this, but my wife is usually less successful than me. However, she has no problem with this wine saver. We just ordered some extra stoppers for it, so you know that for us this one is a keeper.

    A life..er…wine saver!

It’s a rarity that a bottle of wine is opened in my house and not finished, but from time to time I’ll find a need for this wine saver. It works fantastically well, the stoppers are easy to clean and I’ve never had an issue with it. Magnums don’t fit well standing up in my fridge, so I will often cap them and lay them down and I have never had an issue. I have used this with bottles of (cheap) sake and kept them fresh for weeks without any problems.UPDATE: It’s been a couple years since I bought this and since then it has become my go-to gift for things like grab bag’s, stocking stuffers and children’s birthday gifts. I’ve also noticed that all of Long Island’s vineyards are using these to keep their bottles sealed.

    Works as advertised.

I’ve only used it for about a month so far, but it has worked as advertised. Get’s about 2-4 more days out of an opened bottle of wine before the flavor loss is to much. Clicks when sealed (and I stop pumping). Have to wait and see how well it holds up long term. Takes many pumps to get to seal point, but that’s no different than other pumps I’ve tried.UPDATE: July 18th, 2012The same pump is still going strong since I purchased it in February 2007. Definitely the best of the wine saver pumps I have ever tried! It does not work on bubbly or effervescent wines as there gas’s fill in the vacuum the pump creates.

    Excellent product

We have been buying the magnum bottles of wine for sometime and a day after opening the wine becomes sharp and changes it’s taste considerably. This product has been working well for some time and pumping the air out of a magnum bottle with two glasses left takes a while. About 15 pumps, however it works well and keeps the wine fresh for 3-days in a wine cooler. Using normal sized wine bottles the pump is excellent, only a few pumps creates the vacumn needed to keep the wine fresh for two days. We store the wine on it’s side in a wine cooler and have never had a leak using the well designed suction cap. The pour spout also works well, no more red wine spots all over the kitchen counters.

Wine Sealer Great Product is Great BUT Wine Pourer is CHeaply Made

I have been using the vacu win wine sealer for years, it preserves wine for weeks without much effort in sucking the air out of the bottle with the included pump. However, the wine pourers are not the best. They accumulate a lot of grime, the plastic rim on them deteriorates quickly after a few uses, and the plastic it is made out of eventually stains when pouring red wine. They were good while they lasted, but not made to last long.I recommend buying the vacu vin wine preserver and pump separately, save yourself the money and do not buy the wine pourer. You’ll save yourself some money that way

    It clicks when finished

Replaced an older model that had gotten hard to use. Wish we had done it sooner. The new clicking feature is genius.

Great for the novice or the expert!

I bought this for my parents, who know nothing about wine or taking care of wine. With them being novices, they did not want to open bottles of wine because they never finished them. I bought them this Vacu Vin Wine Saver Pump and they loved it! I showed them how to use it. It came with 2 Vacuum Stoppers, which my parents loved, so they didn’t have to buy anything extra. That was their favorite feature! It works perfectly and has maintained its’ integrity! I think I’ll be buying one for myself in the near future! I also love the sleek design!

    awesome gift for wine drinkers

purchased as a gift, it came in a very nice looking box that i was able to wrap without any further packaging, product has held up very well seems, have not had any issues in over a year using itPros:it makes a nice loud click when it gets under vacuum so its easy to know if you have pumped out enough of the airkeeps an open bottle of wine good for several days more than just recorkingvery nice packagingCons:only comes with 2 rubber stoppers (so only 2 open wine bottles at a time) but you can purchase extra ones pretty cheaply, maybe around $10 for 4 more

Protect your wine and build your deltoids all in one

It works. It creates a vacuum in the bottle which preserves the undrunk wine for longer than just re-corking the bottle. The seal holds tightly enough that we can lay our white wine down in the refrigerator and there is no leakage. The only downside is that because of its size it takes a lot of pumping (hence my comment about deltoids) to get to the point where the “clicking” sound indicates you have a vacuum. Be prepared to be vigorous with the larger bottles of wine

Really does extend the life of your opened wine bottle

Very cool product. If you ever want to save an open bottle of wine without worry about the taste changing over a few days, then this product is the solution. I applied the vacuum and the plug to a bottle of wine I didn’t finish. 5 days later, I go to remove the plug and the noise it makes (the suction noise) just lets you know that all the air was removed from the bottle. Wine tasted just like it did when I first uncorked it.

    Wonderful to Keep Wine Fresh

I got this for my mom for Christmas, because she likes to have a glass or two of wine some nights, but my dad doesn’t drink wine, so she always has left overs. She LOVES it! She says it works so well that she doesn’t have to make sure to finish a bottle within a day or two. Since there are two stoppers, sometimes she’ll save one bottle an extra day or two while she opens another one. She loves this gift so much, I’m thinking about getting her another set for her vacation home.

  24. Sun

    Perfect, easy to use solution!

I am the only wine drinker in my household and enjoy one glass on most evenings, so a bottle lasts around 5 days. I drink mostly reds, which, with only a rubber stopper, will lose its characteristics overnight. With the Vacu Vin, it takes only a few pumps to seal and I’m able to enjoy the wine even on day 5. Now, on day two, the flavor profile did change, but in a good way. It’s like the wine is aerated slowly over the course of a few days so it tastes slightly different each day. It’s fantastic!

    Simply Perfect

Great product. Works as described. I had sealed wine and tried it two days later and it was perfect. Not sure how much longer it will keep wine fresh, but this works for me and the price is right.

  26. John Lunsford

The original and still the best.

Works great! Seals well. I read reviews of the vacuum systems vs. other more expensive & tedious methods (inert gas, displacement floats, special decanters, etc.), and to my surprise, the vacuum versions worked among the best, if not the best overall. Of course, if you go with a vacuum capper, you gotta go with Vacu Vin! Just sayin.

  27. WVUDave + Wife

It works, but is it a gimmick?

This product is fun to use and works very well. It definitely gets all/most of the air out once it starts clicking. I bought it as a gift. Other reviewers have stated the clicking noise may stop working, but if this happens you will still know when to stop pumping because it will be too hard to pump due to the vacuum. Good buy if you cannot drink a bottle of wine in one night and would like to finish the bottle the following weekend.

and is very easy to use

I have used many many wine bottle stoppers / vacuum sealers, and none works as well as this one. Some don’t work at all, and many of the sealers lose suction in a short time. This one doesn’t pinch your fingers, doesn’t lose suction, is quite small/compact, and is very easy to use. This is the 5th set I’ve purchased – 3 as gifts for fellow wine lovers, 1 for our wine cellar and 1 for our kitchen! I couldn’t recommend this more highly!

  29. Eddie Stiletto

    This thing is great.

I like to have a glass of wine after work. A bottle may last me a few days. Previously I had been drinking nasty box wine as my daily drinker. But now that I have the Vacu Vin I can pop the top on something much more enjoyable and keep it tasting fresh. Its very easy to use and seems to work great. The bottles make a satisfying swoosh sound as the air rushes in when you remove the stopper after its been sealed with the Vacu Vin. For anyone who may not finish a whole bottle every time you open it, this is a great tool to have.

    Stylish and very effective

My old plastic vacuum pump finally broke down and I found this one on Amazon with good ratings. I like the fact that it comes with two grey rubber caps that you place in the bottle after removing the cork and you place the stainless steel pump over the plastic cap and pump a few times until you hear a clicking sound. This indicates that you have reached the right level of ‘vacuum’ in the bottle. I opened a bottle and then stored it for over a week and when I removed the rubber cap, it made that plopping sound, indicating it held vacuum and the wine was still good. Brilliant!

as you can pour the wine just fine from the bottle

I wasn’t sure how this worked…. but turns out the long silver thing in the picture is just a vacuum pump that pumps the air out of the bottle…. well, I shoulda guessed it from the name, “VACU VIN!” Anyway, all you really need is the vacuum pump thing and one of the little round gray plug things. You really DON’T AT ALL need the clear plastic pour spouts; that’s just window-dressing, as you can pour the wine just fine from the bottle. Also, I only have 1 bottle of wine going at any one time (usually) so I REALLY don’t need 2 stoppers and 2 pourers… ALL IN ALL, the thing seems to work fine: I just think the ~$21.00 pricetag is a bit steep for just a little pump to pump the air out of a wine bottle and a stopper to keep the vacuum in place.

Wonderful little item to have at home, great gift idea!

I picked this saver up with a set of Vinturi Essential Wine Aerators for my husband and dad for the holidays. Six months later, talk about a hit! My husband drinks red, I drink white, and we don’t finish a bottle unless company is over. The saver is used with every bottle we open and it works great. I notice that a bottle of white stays fresh for days longer than it did without the saver. Now, of course, it doesn’t make it last forever, but gives us long enough to finish the bottle without going bad. I have had a number of guests pick one up after seeing ours, as well. I am looking at picking up some for this holiday round for gifts.

Does what it is supposed to do.

My wife is the only wine drinker in our house, and she’s a glass a day type. We bought this product on sale and I have to say that in our limited experience, it extends the life of the bottle out long enough for her to finish the bottle before it turns bad.I’m a little surprised at the comments concerning the difficulty of use. My wife, who can’t even operate our TV remote, easily put in a stopper, vacuumed out the air, opened the bottle by introducing air into the stopper and repeated the process. If she can do it, you can too.If you’re the type that like a glass of wine with your meal but you don’t want to drink the whole bottle at once, this product is for you.

Not as cool as I thought

Does the job but not as high tech that I thought it would be. When I saw this item on Amazon I thought I was getting a steal but once I got in the mail I feel like I paid I little too much for it. It does the job and keeps your wine fresh. I rarely use the pourers but I guess they are nice to have. I excepted the vacuum sealer to seal it self like you would press a button and it would seal but for you but in reality you have to put the seal yourself.

Please be CAREFUL using this on a Kitchen Counter, if you’re short.

Yes, this pump seems to work quite well at releasing air from wine bottles. Goody. But it takes a good deal of body strength , to generate the “click” that means air has been released. For a person with ordinary upper body strength, this should be no problem at all. But have you ever wished your kitchen counter was not quite so high?Well then, Amazon-user, you’re short. And unless you plan to use this vacuum pump on a low surface, you’ll have your elbows extended outward, like a bird. But at shoulder level or even above-shoulder. And then you’ll be pumping downward forcefully, at a small focal point in the middle of your chest. Get the picture?I don’t think this would pose any problem if your arms were not so high up in a weird position. And if the focal point where you’re pumping were not so small. Hey, couldn’t there be a warning: “Careful, Short People”?I wish I had looked for a lower surface to use this vacuum pump. Maybe drunk a little less wine? Ouch!

Compaact and EASY way to make your wine last longer.

I bought this wine saver as a gift for my wife. So far it has worked perfectly for us.While my wife really enjoys wine, I do not… so when a bottle is opened only 1-2 glasses are consumed at a time. She’s not an “every-night” wine drinker so it’s definitely in our best interest if the wine can last for a few days before the taste turns.I wouldn’t say that my wife is the most particular wine drinker either but she has said that she has noticed a marked difference in freshness and taste since using the Wine Saver. This is also super simple to use. Usually I am the one that has to deal with “mechanical” things but this is so simple that my wife doesn’t even ask me for help.So far we have been very happy with this purchase.

I’ve frequently saved partial bottles of wine for about a week using this pump with good results. I often drink a glass and then

I had an older model of this pump and lost one of the plugs. This pump clicks when you’ve pulled enough vacuum, the older one didn’t. The older plug and newer ones work well with this pump. I store the wine horizontally in a wine cooler and have never had a leak. I’ve frequently saved partial bottles of wine for about a week using this pump with good results. I often drink a glass and then save the rest. Drinking a glass every day or two until the bottle is empty. Saving time is less of course if sharing the wine. I’ve never saved wine longer than about 10 days. Not sure how long wine could be saved this way.

    Great wine set

We often do not finish a full bottle of wine in an evening and as you know the wine goes bad pretty fast once opened. This has greatly improved the amount of time we have to finish a bottle in without it tasting terrible. The pump is extremely easy to use and prevents any leaking. I was afraid to put the wine back on the rack or laying down in the fridge with the stoppers but so far we have not had any issue with the seal breaking/leaking.I can’t speak to the pourers that come with this set as it was a gift, but we have the stoppers and pump which inspired us to buy the set as a gift for a family member.Definitely recommend to anyone who does not finish every bottle they open, as it has already saved us more money in wine than we spent on the wine saver.

    I’m a believer

Bought the vacu vin as the result of the positive reviews and I am now adding one of my own. I do not drink wine quickly, my husband and I just like to enjoy a glass with dinner so this sounded great to me. I often would not open wine if I thought we might eat out the following night as I was concerned about letting the leftover wine go to waste. Vacu Vin removed that hesitation. The wine will keep for about a week before beginning to spoil so we can enjoy it slowly over time. I even recently forgot a vacu vin sealed bottle of reisling in the fridge when we went on vacation for a full seven days and it was still tasty when we returned! Not sure that reds or unrefrigerated wine would go that long as I have not let it but I have kept the reds for about five or six days with the vacu vin. Great product!

    Like it

I got the SS version of this in a 443 promo after seeing so many positive reviews on the economy model. We always have a bottle of red and white in the fridge to have a glass at dinner time and this keeps the wine in an as just opened state. The Stainless Steel is just a thin aesthetic piece over the plastic body – I don’t think it is more durable than the all plastic version but it does look nice.Knocking off a star because when your bottle is at half or below it can be quite a workout. It’s not hard – you just have to pump the thing about a hundred times.Overall, we’re happy. Hope to get many years of use out of it, but it is a lightweight plastic mechanism . . .

A must have for any wine afficionado

I originally bought a Vacu Vin about 20 years ago, and it finally needed replacing when the plastic lining for the pump wore out. If I had a dollar for each bottle of wine that old pump had preserved over the years, I could buy a very expensive meal and a good bottle of wine to go with it.So what else to do but by a new one. This is a bit of an upgrade from the original: it’s now metal and plastic construction, and makes a ticking sound to alert you that the wine is properly sealed.

Useful to preserve wine for a little longer…

Well made product. The finish on the pump is elegant and does not look cheap. Just remind that this won’t save your wine of the effects of oxidation but it will give you some extra time before the wine becomes undrinkable. As advertised, when using the pump the “click” will let you know there is no more air to extract, usually I let it click for 2 or 3 times. Remember to store the wine in a cool environment after using it. I would not advise to use the fridge for red wines but a fresh and dark place.I would also suggest not to store the wine for more than three days… after this you can perceive some real degradation in taste.I have not used the crystal-like pourers yet, but they look nice.

A Must for Frequent Wine Consumers

Very useful product if you enjoy wine. Preserves wine for continued drinking later. Easy to pump out air and seal. A must for frequent wine consumers.

Vacu Vin Wine Saver Pump is a “Quality” product…

…finally found a wine vacuum pump that really works! We shouldn’t have to ask for much, just a stopper that HOLDS vacuum in a quality package, and this one fits the bill. I tested it for several days and found no problem with it not holding a good vacuum seal. I first bought the “High Quality FastOVacuum” selling here on amazon.com and found it to be JUNK! Gave it “zero” stars; the stopper fails to hold vacuum for any length of time and it is far from being a “quality” product; poorly made, just another cheap “made in China” product. The Vacu Vin Wine Saver Pump is several dollars more in cost, but in my opinion worth the price…

Exactly what was needed for a gift

The stainless steel wrap around the pump added a nice finishing touch. It’s a very nice item for gifting with a bottle of wine.

    Great wine saver

This wine saver is a large improvement from the older ones I have used. The click when the wine is pumped down is a great feature. Gave one of these as a gift to a wine friend of mine and he loves it.

    Works great

This tool works great at saving wine for a few days and keeping it fresh! My one suggestion for improvement is to include a storage case. The box is flimsy and will not last long. What will end up happening is more things to roll around in your kitchen drawer. A nice storage case would be welcome.

If you can’t finish it, save it for later…….

I actually wondered if we would need this tool since we rarely ever have left over wine but………..it’s nice to be able to open 2 or 3 different bottles at a time to have your own tasting or to share with friends and then not worry if it will be stale by the next day if you don’t finish it all. This product was easy to use. You insert the stopper, put the pump on top of it and pump it until you hear it click. To remove the stopper, you bend the little nipple on the stopper to the side and the vacuum is released. It doesn’t get any easier than that.I have laid bottles on their side with the stoppers in place without any leakage at all. The stoppers are easy to clean too.If you’ve had to drink stale wine in the past for any reason you need this Vacu Vin pump. The stainless steel is a nice touch and the price is right. The Vacu Vin kit goes well with the Oster Electric Bottle Opener (which is a must if you enjoy a lot of wine or have problems with any other type of bottle opener).I was skeptical at first about the 2 pourer’s (sp?) that came with this kit due to inexperience with anything like this. The design seemed flawed and when I opened the package, I assumed they were broken. That’s certainly not the case. They deliberately have a split neck design so they can fit virtually any sized bottle opening. Function is something we have have all learned to compromise for form these days. These things function as if there were no other reason for their existence. I was amazed at the simplicity at which they work. Not a single drip occurs after you finish the pour. As a matter of fact, instead of dripping on your fancy table cloth or someones lap, it goes back into the bottle, so the function is two-fold. No mess, and no waste!I highly recommend this Vacu Vin Wine Saver Kit. If you only use it once to save a single bottle of expensive red it will pay for itself. And it will probably also work on soda bottles. (although we don’t drink much soda in our house, except as mixers).Rob

My original pump is working fine after 10+ years. This one was purchased as a backup.

Easy to use and does not seem to wear out at all.

    Works

I bought this one as a gift. I had bought one earlier and liked it. Works well and holds the vacuum for a good while.

    Another Great Kitchen Gadget

AESTHETICSThis is so much more attractive than the plastic white version. This may not matter to some, but it looks beautiful against our gleaming granite countertops vs. a white piece of plasticEXTRASComes with 2 non-drip pouring spouts and 2 stoppersEASE OF USEIt definitely creates a vacuum inside the bottle. We let our seven year old try it out when it first arrived. We told him it’s supposed to make a clicking sound when it’s done. He put the stopper on the top of the wine bottle, pumped the handle 30 times (he counted – the bottle was a large bottle of wine used for cooking and only had about a cup of wine left in it) and when it clicked he stopped. He then released the stopper and we heard a whoosh of air rush inside. Our seven-year-old figured it out without further instruction.EFFECTIVENESSSimilar to any other air-tight or air-sealing product (Foodsaver vacuum sealing food bags come to mind), keeping air out of the food prevents or greatly reduces oxidation and keeps the flavor of the food or wine, or whatever liquid fresh.Like anything, if you leave food in the fridge, even if you vacu-seal it eventually it goes bad. Vacu-sealing just reduces air contact, thereby reducing the rate of break down = food stays fresher longer. Same with wine. Eventually it’s going to vinegarize. This just slows down that process. We haven’t left anything on the counter and expected it to remain fresh. So for those who want their wine to remain room temperature, not sure this is going to buy that much extra time.Plus who wants to re-cork an open bottle of wine? Yes they sell ones for that purpose but I’d rather spend my money on a stopper that slows down spoilage 🙂

    Excellent material. Definitely works.

These are absolutely unbelievable. They actually work, and are so simple to use. I am a big wine drinker. I use this vacuum stoppers on a daily basis, and yes, it does preserve and prolongs the freshness, taste, and consistency of the wine I drink. The material and the way in which this is made is also very durable and well made. I have been using it now for many years, still no issues what so ever. Totally recommended.
